Final Project

The Final Project (Tugas Akhir) is the final stage for students to prove their competence before graduating as a Bachelor of Engineering (S.T.).

Credit Weight and Position in the Curriculum The Final Project course (with code 24STLE07Y018) is positioned in Semester 7 or 8. Based on the latest curriculum evaluation and adjustment, the credit weight for the Final Project is set at 4 SKS (credits).

To take this course, students must fulfill the prerequisite course, which is Research Methodology (Metodologi Penelitian), offered in Semester 6. In addition, students must not have any grades of D or E when taking the Final Project course.

The advantage of PSSTL's latest curriculum structure is that Final Project preparation is not rushed at the very end of the study period. In Semester 7, students take a Capstone Design course named Environmental Infrastructure Management (Pengelolaan Infrastruktur Lingkungan). This capstone course is specifically directed so that students can complete their Final Project proposal draft as well as the initial draft of their research or design. Consequently, upon entering Semester 8, they already possess a solid research or design foundation that is ready for execution.

Due to its comprehensive nature, the Final Project carries a heavier competency burden compared to regular courses. While regular courses in PSSTL typically encompass only 1 to 3 Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPLs), the Final Project course (along with the Capstone Design) is tasked with measuring 4 CPLs simultaneously. This is designed to ensure that students truly master analytical skills, engineering design, data-based evaluation, and the application of professional ethics before entering the workforce.

Referring to the National Standards for Higher Education (SN-Dikti) adopted by the PSSTL curriculum, the output of this Final Project focuses on solving complex engineering problems in the environmental field. The output can be in the form of a scientific description or thesis (skripsi), prototype creation, an engineering/design project (such as a wastewater treatment plant or an environmental infrastructure system), or other similar types of final projects compiled independently. The results of the study must subsequently be compiled into a written report that is completely free from any elements of plagiarism.
