Guest lecture on "Sustainable Waste Management" by Professor of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Diponegoro University University General
Wednesday, November 23, 2022 a Guest Lecture was held with the topic "Sustainable Waste Management". To discuss this topic, the UNUD Environmental Engineering Study Program brought in a resource person who has a wealth of experience in waste management, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Syafrudin CES., M.T. , Professor who currently serves in the Department of Environmental Engineering, Diponegoro University. The guest lecture lasted 2 hours and was held in Building C, 4th Floor, Wiswakarma Room, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, Sudirman Campus. This activity was also attended by the Deputy Dean for General Affairs and Finance who opened the guest lecture and the Environmental Engineering Study Program Coordinator as well as the Environmental Engineering Study Program lecturers.
The activity began with the opening, wiswakarma induction and continued with the presentation of material by Prof. Syafrudin guided by moderator Ida Bagus Made Baskara Andika, S.Hut., M.Sc. In his presentation he stressed that waste is a tangible cost and the value of waste is high from an economic standpoint and that the Final Management Site needs to be built according to regulations, namely a sanitary landfill so that it does not have a big impact on the environment. The professor who completed his undergraduate education at Diponegoro University, postgraduate at the Bandung Institute of Technology and ENTP, Lyon, Paris and his doctoral degree at Diponegoro University also explained how the description or design of TPA should conform to the standards. With this provision, students as candidates for the Bachelor of Environmental Engineering are expected to have an understanding of sustainable waste management systems and the criteria for constructing TPAs ??that comply with standards as a waste management site.
This guest lecture activity provides extraordinary benefits for students of the Environmental Engineering Study Program. At the end of the material presentation session, the Diponegoro University professor gave his mandate for students to be able to develop the knowledge gained from the material giving session. The guest lecture activities that were held, apart from providing a new academic feel, this activity also provided an opportunity for students to get to know and know the duties and responsibilities of an environmental engineering graduate from an early age. They are given knowledge so that it can be useful when in the work industry and in the field directly.
Ir. Kadek Diana Harmayani, ST. MT. PhDs. IPM as the Study Program Coordinator hopes that this guest lecture activity can be beneficial for Environmental Engineering students in increasing their knowledge of waste management and being able to apply the knowledge gained as well as possible and it is hoped that this guest lecture activity can be carried out in a sustainable manner by bringing in competent resource persons in their fields so that students have broader insights both about the life of the industrial world and the education system at other institutions
